Their Story
In the quiet village of Vaste in southern Italy, three brothers, Alphius, Philadelphus, and Cyrinus, shared an unbreakable bond rooted in their Christian faith. Raised in a devout family, they were known for their compassion and dedication to their community. However, their lives took a dramatic turn during the persecution of Decius around 251 AD. Their mother, Benedicta, stood resolutely by their side as they faced the harsh realities of their beliefs being put to the ultimate test.
Arrested alongside other Christians, the brothers were transported to Pozzuoli, where they witnessed the brutal execution of fellow believer Onesimus. It was a harrowing moment that solidified their resolve. Despite the fear surrounding them, Alphius, Philadelphus, and Cyrinus remained steadfast in their faith. The trio was later taken to Sicily, where they would meet their tragic fate. Each brother endured horrific tortures for their beliefs—Alphius had his tongue torn from his mouth, Philadelphus was burned at the stake, and Cyrinus was boiled alive in oil. Through their suffering, they transformed into powerful symbols of courage and devotion, leaving a legacy that would inspire generations.
