Born in 1119 in the charming village of Sorrivoli, Italy, Aldebrandus was destined for a life of spiritual leadership. Educated by the canons of Santa Maria de Porto near Ravenna, he was deeply influenced by the teachings of the Church. After his ordination as a priest, Aldebrandus became the provost of the chapter at Rimini Cathedral. It was here that his courageous preaching against the rampant sinful living of his time put him in direct conflict with the local authorities. His bold words earned him threats against his life, forcing him to flee in search of safety.
In 1170, Aldebrandus was appointed Bishop of Fossombrone, where he would leave an indelible mark on the community. He oversaw the construction of a magnificent cathedral, a testament to his dedication to faith and service. Throughout his life, he encountered numerous challenges, yet he faced them with unwavering resolve. One of the most remarkable stories of his later years involved a miraculous event; when presented with a cooked partridge on a fast day, he prayed over it, and it astonishingly came back to life. Aldebrandus passed away on April 30, 1219, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and integrity.
